I’m so predictable when it comes to dresses. A classic silhouette and stripes get me every time. I bought this dress at Forever 21 years ago because navy and white stripes will always be in style. If you can find a timeless piece without spending a lot of money, you pretty much have to buy it.

I recently started a new job in Chicago. I couldn’t be more excited, except for the fact that I’ve reverted to carrying my college backpack. Not so fashionable.
I take public transportation to and from work, which I don’t mind at all. I love that it’s conveienet and I can relax and read a book on the train. It’s just not the kind of place I want to be carrying around my precious Louis Vuitton tote bag, especially when people are getting robbed on Michigan Avenue in broad daylight.
To put my mind at ease, I invested in a simple tote bag free of any designer logos or prints. J.Crew’s Brompton hobo had everything I was looking for-durable leather, a shoulder strap and enough room to fit my laptop. If you need a simple everyday work bag there are a lot of great options out there.

If you’ve never heard of Aritzia may I suggest you get acquainted. They have the best selection of simple shirt dresses. This one not only has pockets, but the fabric is so light and comfortable. I wore it to a wedding in Arizona and it was perfect for the hot weather.
Mine is burgundy (although it photographed red). They also have a mint one for spring that I have my eye on. This is one dress you will wear over and over.

I used to assume that fit and flare dresses were too “foofy” and therefore refused to even try them on. Thankfully, H&M taught me how wrong I was.
I was casually browsing the racks at H&M in my local mall when I spied an LBD with a subtle fit and flare shape. I can’t find the eaxct one online, but this one is similiar. I decided to give it a try and instantly fell in love with the silhouette.
The skirt was nowhere near the ballgown-level foofiness I had envisioned. I actually thought it would make a darling party dress. Heck, I loved it so much I even bought J.Crew’s version in white.

I’ve noticed that classic camisoles seem to be everywhere for summer. J.Crew’s silk camis keep selling out like crazy. I’m crossing my fingers that this striped one comes back in stock.
Tibi’s are a bit pricier, but I love the black and white striped one. Aritzia also makes perfect drapey camis in vintage-inspired florals and delicate pleats.
Camis are the perfect top to throw on with jeans or shorts. They layer perfectly under just about anything. That floral camisole would look cute under a blazer and with a pencil skirt for the office. A solid black cami would be a great basic to layer under colorful caridgans.

What I love about white jeans is that they are easy to dress up or down. In this case I added my coveted Jimmy Choos. Seriously, there’s a story behind these. The mint tank was a steal from J.Crew Factory. I live for their 40% off sales.
I think the colors mint and white also have some kind of magical power that instantly makes your skin look two times darker. There was no fake baking that took place before these pictures were shot.
